Volunteer

Kings Theatre Company and The Lycian Centre
have a wonderful group of volunteers who play a
vital role in contributing to our success. Many
people volunteer their time to the theatre in the
following ways:

Become a “Friend of the Theatre”
Become a Corporate Sponsor
Engrave a Paver
Advertise in our Playbills

Ushers
Ushers escort people to their seats, hand out programs, monitor restrooms, answer questions for patrons and assist the House staff in general with any special needs/tasks during a performance at the direction of the management.

Ticket Takers
Ticket Takers ensure that everyone entering the theatre has a ticket and tears off and retains the stub. Also monitor restrooms, answer questions for patrons and assist the House staff in general with any special needs/tasks during a performance at the direction of the management.

Concessions
Volunteers are needed to work the concession stand during intermission for every main stage show. Concession work includes pouring coffee, selling snacks and soda, being responsible for accepting money and making change without the aid of a cash register.

Parking
Parking attendants direct vehicles for orderly and efficient parking.

Distribution of Marketing Materials
We depend on our volunteers to help us get the word out about our shows. Volunteers help distribute posters, flyers and brochures to various businesses, libraries, post offices and other high traffic places throughout the area.

Administrative Assistance
Occasionally volunteers help with labeling, sorting, envelope stuffing and filing. Volunteers with a flexible schedule are contacted on an “as needed” basis.

Incentives
Show Admission – Volunteers earn points per show worked; when accumulated can be used for admission to upcoming performances.
Community Service Hours – Student volunteers will also accrue community service hours for time worked.

Recruitment
New volunteers are welcome and recruited year round. Sign-up for performances occur based on the individual’s availability. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old. All volunteers are welcome (and encouraged) to watch the performances. Seating is limited and subject to availability.

Internships

Audience Development/Group Sales
An emphasis on community involvement and awareness, planning and direct target-marketing strategies for groups and help coordinate group ticket sales.

Fund-Raising
Assisting in identifying fund-raising opportunities, planning fund-raising events, coordinating direct mail efforts and writing letters.

Marketing/Public Relations
Developing targeted marketing campaigns, planning advertising, and promotional copy writing.

Kings Theatre Company will work with internship guidelines to ensure that the student fulfills necessary educational requirements.
